Recently, I have come across a few more new types of online advertising: corner peels and virtual reality.
As I’ve come to understand them, virtual reality ads depend heavily on the use of tablets and smart phones. The idea behind it is to bring to life a normally dull, print advertisement. Through the use of a designated application a smart phone or tablet such as the iPad can animate an otherwise static ad on a page. This technology and idea can be best illustrated in this ad. Amazing, huh?
The second ad type is called a corner peel. Although it’s been seen before, I’ve recently come across it and began the push to incorporate it at The State News as a novel product idea. The best part about a corner peel is that it does not block content (which is great for everybody!) but still allows a viewer to become engaged and called to action. A corner peel can look something like the one in the top right corner of the Amazon homepage.

These are two new ads that I am trying to push for The State News. I’ve enjoyed learning more about them, and hopefully we can all see some online at statenews.com soon!
